Budding Eco-Warriors Excel at Jugaad Mela 2025

 

The young innovators of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, stole the spotlight at the recently held Jugaad Mela 2025, organized as part of the 69th Foundation Day celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC). Competing against some of the brightest minds  across Punjab, DAV Pakhowal’s talented participants emerged as frontrunners in two major innovation categories, securing accolades and admiration from everyone.

Demonstrating outstanding scientific vision, Ekampreet Singh Saini(IX) and Vishnu (X) clinched the Second Position in the highly competitive category - Join Ideathon 2025: Propose New Uses of Stubble Instead of Burning. Their innovative project on bio-briquettes presented a sustainable and practical alternative to stubble burning, addressing a critical environmental issue. The duo was awarded a cash prize of ₹5,000, and their work was widely appreciated for its relevance and execution.

Equally commendable was the achievement of Asees Singh (X), who also secured the Second Position in the category - Do You Have Any Jugaad or Innovation to Showcase? His unique model, which proposed a method to convert harmful chimney smoke into useful products, was praised for its scientific depth and eco-conscious approach. He too was honoured with a cash prize of ₹5,000.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar lauded the unwavering dedication of the Science Department for nurturing a spirit of innovation among the students. She also extended her gratitude to GNDEC for providing an empowering platform that encourages rising changemakers to transform ideas into meaningful outcomes. She commended the young achievers for their ingenuity and purpose-driven approach, and extended her heartfelt wishes for their continued success and impactful contributions in the future.
