Teej Celebration at DAV Pakhowal Road

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana organized traditional Teej Celebrations on its campus on 6th Aug, 2016. The students came dressed up in beautiful cultural attire. Where the boys turned up as mighty ‘Gabrus’ the girls were no less dressed up as pretty ‘Mutiyaars’ adorned with ethnic costumes, traditional jewellery, patterns of henna, prandas etc.
The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar graced the occasion with her benign presence. She showered her blessings and best wishes upon the staff and the students. She shared that happiness wrapped in such little celebrations gives a long lasting joy. Such moments are exotic and need to be recorded as cherishable memories. The arrival of such festivity amidst the struggle for excellent results in approaching SA1 has brought a tremendous relaxation and refreshment. Such celebrations increase the charm of childhood. It was really nostalgic for her to see the reflection of her childhood in her students.
Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, the activity incharge stated that the idea of this celebration is influenced by the culture and heritage of Punjab. There is a dire need to restore the losing cultural values among students. Also it strengthens the roots of youth. Each activity and celebration in the school is governed by elements of life skills which have been an integral part of wholesome education. Moreover, it is fun to teach culture in this manner.
The students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in all the activities especially planned to make the occasion more meaningful and enjoyable.The students showed their creativity in Mehandi applying, Bulletin Board Decoration, Pranda tying competition, Giddha etc.The students sang melodious Punjabi folk songs and performed Giddha and Bhangra. Overall the day concluded on a happy and cheerful note.
