The Annual Athletic Meet -2017 concluded with great pomp and show at D.A.V Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana on 9th Feb, 2017. The occasion turned out to be a RED LETTER DAY in the history of the school. This momentous event was graced by Internationally Acclaimed Agriculture Economist Padam Bhushan Awardee Hon’ble Dr. S.S. Johl ji (Vice-Chairman of D.A.V Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana) as the Chief Guest. It was a matter of great pride and privilege for the school to have the distinguished gathering consisting Respected Mr. Dharam Pal Jain (Senior Member LMC) as the Guest of Honour, Mr. R.S Patial ji, Mr. P.S Bajaj, Pr. Dr. Anu Verma, Pr. Mrs. J.K Sidhu, Dr. Charanjit Singh, and Mr. Amar Singh Ji, Mr. Hoshiar Singh.
The event opened with a warm and cheerful reception of the dignitaries and guests. The atmosphere was turned exuberance with echoes of cheer and applause. The event opened with the auspicious Gaytri Mantra by the school choir. All the guests and the spectators prayed for the success of the event.
The melodious welcome song created a warm and cordial ambience. The school choir added hues of happiness and excitement among the guests about the following events. The Chief Guest Dr. Johl unfurled the D.A.V Pakhowal Road Sports Flag and declared the meet open. The colorful balloons soared up high and send across the sky led to a beautiful opening. The Housewise cavalcade of participants presented a salute to the guests in the March Past. The opening ceremony was followed by various events 200 m Race, Sack Race, Relay Race, Obstacle Race, Three legged Race, and Kangaroo Race for boys and girls. The little athlete from classes V-VII showed their strength in Mass P.T, dumbbells, lezium demonstration etc.
The resplendent cultural show by the students stole the hearts of the spectators. The vigorous Army Act, steaming Hawain Dance, Patriotic Jai Ho entertained the guests thoroughly.
The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar in her esteemed address extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries, patrons, grandparents and parents. She expressed her elation for being blessed with the company of elite gathering. In her disquisition she shared the meritorious achievements of the students and also the latest developments made in the school infrastructure and administration. She also encouraged the participants to perform in the true spirit of sportsmanship. She also expressed her deep concern about the physical and mental fitness of the students. She stated that only healthy boy can rear sound mind and healthy thoughts. This event was planned to make the students aware of healthy exercising techniques which can help them to lead a salubrious life.
During the course of preparations the physical education department put in their best efforts to polish the skills of the students in physical training. Dr. Bhullar also thanked thegathering for their overwhelming contribution and support with their gracious presence.
The sports stars who grabbed winning positions were honoured with mementoes of appreciation by Dr. S.S Johl Ji and other dignitaries in the felicitation ceremony. The Chief Guest Hon’ble Dr. S.S Johl ji appreciated the performance of the students. He also extended his heartiest blessings and congratulations to the school for a spectacular and mesmerizing show. The occasion concluded with the National Anthem. It was indeed a valuable and constructive experience for one and all.
