ISA PROJECT 1 : ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

     Due to excessive deforestation the entire Earth is prone to natural calamities which has shaken the humanity upto its roots. In this hour of trauma, it becomes the responsibility of one and all to pick up huge and effective steps to control the situation. Such an initiative was taken by Dr. Mohan Lal Sharma ji, Principal of D.A.V Public School, Sarabha Nagar Extn. Ludhiana, who encouraged the staff and the students to increase the plantation of trees on and around the campus. Several related activities were planned for all the classes to promote afforestation.

     The school declared 22th July 2015 to 31st  July 2015 as ‘Van Mahotsava Week’. Beginning from The Kindergarten Wing the students of Pre KG were taken out into the school garden and were taught the nature. The students of LKG came dressed up in floral patterns and participated in the Rhyme Show singing beautiful songs. The students of UKG planted saplings and adopted plants to be taken care of by them. They also marched a rally around the school raising slogans to save trees. The students of class V and VI came dressed up in green t-shirts to march a rally around the neighbouring vicinity. They planted trees on the way and gifted saplings to the civilians to plant in their flower beds and kitchen gardens. A special pamphlet was designed and distributed in the school and among the masses that stated the need and suggestions to save trees. The pamphlet itself spoke enough to convince the readers. The dramatics club organized a special Nukkad Natak(Sheet Play) to impress the residents and the passersby. The students of class VIII made a comparative study of effects of deforestation in India, Indonesia and Brazil in the form of PPT’s and presented the same to discuss the suggestions for finding solutions to the problem. The students of class V wrote beautiful slogans to plant more trees. An English declamation contest for class X was organized related to the issue of Environmental degradation as a global concern.

The principal Dr. Mohan Lal Sharma ji appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers who left no stone unturned to promote environmental care and cleanliness. He also said that the school time is the best time to cultivate productive habits among the students. He ensured that such steps would surely lay a strong, valuable and progressive foundation of next generation.
