TWO DAY TRAINING WORKSHOP BY CBSE AT DAV PAKHOWAL ROAD
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a Two-Day Training Programme on ASL at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana on 12th & 13th Aug 2016. The purpose of the workshop was to enlighten the TGTs and PGTs about the know hows of assessing the listening and speaking skills of the students. Around 60 teachers from numerous CBSE schools from Punjab participated with zeal and zest to master the assessment process.
The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar, also the venue Director of the event extended a heartfelt welcome to the elite resource persons from CBSE Hon’ble Dr. Praggya Singh Joint Director CBSE and Ms. Pallavi Sethi from BCM Arya Model School Shastri Nagar Ludhiana and all the delegates from various schools of Punjab. Dr. Bhullar motivated the participants to participate actively in the workshop so that they can return enriched and resourceful. She also threw light on the significant role of correct language in effective conversation.
Dr. Praggya Singh acquainted the delegates with the procedure of assessing listening and speaking skills of the students in detail. All the grading points were discussed at length. She also elaborated the parameters and descriptors of testing spoken English. Ms. Pallavi Sethi conducted several activities to explain the intricacies of phonology to the teachers. The informative handouts and pamphlets clarified the concepts to the core of satisfaction. Teachers also learnt effective questioning techniques to promote confident and fluent speaking among the students. It was both informative and entertaining for the teachers to watch the assessment videos and simulating role plays. The tips and tricks to manage the examination day by the resource persons reduced the anxiety of handling evaluation procedure among the delegates.
Dr. Mrs. Bhullar acknowledged the contribution made by the resource persons in enlightening the teachers. She appreciated the inputs and efforts put in by Dr. Praggya Singh and Ms. Pallavi Sethi in enhancing and polishing the skills of the teachers. She also thanked the delegates for being a part of the workshop and ensured her constant support to give latitude to such training programmes in her capacity for the welfare of the education system.
