International Yoga Day : An Eternal Bliss
DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana celebrated the International Yoga day on its campus on 21 June 2019 to value the spiritual practice of integrating body, mind and soul. This Yoga Day was initiated by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi Ji to inculcate the holistic approach to health and well-being. The Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar accepted it as a great opportunity to impart this practice as means to align and balance body on a regular basis. Amidst the ongoing summer break the students of all the classes were invited to join the celebration. The excited crowd of teachers and students gathered to perform yoga at 6:45 a.m. onwards. The morning kicked off with a holy beginning with a short prayer to foster devotion. The prayer session was followed by a short orientation speech by the school yoga instructor Mr Naveen Sharma who shared the multiple and noticeable benefits of regular yoga practice. He also warmed up and encouraged the students to participate and learn actively. The yogic drill included yogic jogging, several forms of Praanayaama (conscious breathing) including loosening practices, Tadasan, Vriksasana, Pada-Hastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana, Bhdrasana, Bhujangasana, Vakrasana, Makarasan, Setubandhasana, Pavan Muktasana, Kapalbharti, Dhyan in Sambhavi Mudra and many more. During the session, the approach was to encourage mental amd physical fitness and to become conscious of the specific body parts after doing a corresponding pose. The occasion concluded with a pledge to incorporate Yoga in routine and recitation of Shanti Path by the participants. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the 45 minutes of work out. It was indeed a fruitful fitness session for all.
